Welcome again to all the new readers and subscribers! I’m happy to see that many of you enjoyed the blog enough to stick around. Anna-Lisa and I have had a very busy weekend in Melbourne, Australia. We absolutely love it here and actually used more hotel points to extend our stay here a couple extra days. We were able to do that thanks to one of the unique features of the AA Explorer Award, which allows unlimited dates changes as long as the entire trip still fits within the required time frame of one year from date of departure. We’re planning a more comprehensive post on our six days here in the future, but for now we’ll leave you with just a few quick pictures after we remind you about the giveaway.
In case you haven’t entered yet, here is the information you need to enter the $50 gift certificate giveaway. The deadline is at midnight Pacific Time tonight, after which I will randomly choose a winner and contact them via email or Facebook. Thanks everyone for participating.
$50 Gift Certificate Giveaway
To welcome everyone, we’ve happy to announce that we will award a $50 gift card to one lucky reader. Since we love traveling, the gift card will be for a US-based airline (United, American, Southwest) of the winner’s choosing. There are two ways to enter, and completing both will give you two entries. The options are described below:
1. Subscribe to the blog: Simply scroll up and enter your email in the “subscribe to blog” box on the top right to be added to our subscriber list. You’ll be entered in the contest, and get an email whenever we have a new blog post. Note that I will be emailing the email listed if you win, so make sure it’s an email you check regularly.
2. Like us on Facebook and share one of the posts on our Facebook page: choose one of the posts we’ve linked to on the AwardTravelWisdom page that you like and share it with your friends to get an entry. Only one entry can be earned, so no need to spam your friends.
Below, enjoy some of our first pictures from Melbourne. We happened to be here over Australian Labor Day weekend, which Melbourne celebrates with the annual Moomba Festival. The downtown banks of the river were packed with people all weekend, and we got three nights of fireworks among the many activities going on. This coming weekend will be the annual Australian Grand Prix Formula 1 race, so the fun isn’t ending. Unfortunately we didn’t extend that long, so we will be back in Asia in a couple of days.
