It’s always hard for me to describe a city in a few paragraphs and in a sampling of photos. The more we travel and the more places we see, I realize that cities and countries are starting to slowly melt together in my head. How to describe Kuala Lumpur (KL)? What made it unique and different? I’m not sure I can say. It was a clean city. The Petronas Towers, the tallest building in the world until Taipei 101 (and now the Burj Khalifa) took over, looms over the city.
We began our time visiting some friends for two nights in a suburb of KL, 45 minutes from the city, in an intriguing area called Cyber Jaya. It reminded us of suburbs in the USA with wide streets, big buildings and was not pedestrian friendly. The next three nights we stayed downtown in the Double Tree hotel, thanks to hotel points, and had easy access to the towers, the malls and the metro. After a month in small beach towns in Southern Thailand we gravitated to the malls. I think it was because we were craving air conditioning and modern civilization. We spent an afternoon at the Petrosains Museum, went to a movie and walked around a lot.
I just found you guys off of millionmilessecret.com and I”m in KL right now! And I passed by the DoubleTree today. And I also collect points. I don’t know, I found all that exciting.
Hi Mellisa,
I totally understand your excitement! It’s always fun to see someone else talk about the place you are currently visiting. KL was great. If you happen to be there with any friends definitely check out Escape Room!
