Our Trip Around the World – 2.5 Month Update

hong kong us

One of very few photos of us together. We need to take more! This one is from Hong Kong at Chi Lin Nunnery.

Happy New Year! We wish our readers an excellent 2014.  Its been over a month since our last overview, so here is another update.

Welcome everyone from sunny Krabi, Thailand!!  Anna-Lisa and I have spent the past two weeks traveling back through time in the beautiful country currently known as Myanmar (formerly Burma).  Myanmar hasn’t yet hooked up high speed internet through their country, so we spent the time simply traveling and maintaining minimal contact with the outside world.  We finally arrived to the beach town of Krabi yesterday and got to enjoy our first experience of the Indian Ocean’s perfect water today!  Anna-Lisa had been getting extremely excited for this moment, as she continually kept asking me why we had planned our trip in a way that it would take 2.5 months of travel before we were able to hop into the ocean.

Since our last update in mid November, we’ve done quite a bit of moving around, as you can see on the map below.  We took a quick trip to Laos to do an amazing adventure including zip-lines, sleeping in tree houses in a massive jungle.  We then left Chiang Mai a couple weeks later and sauntered through Myanmar, visiting 3 of its most common destinations and Yangon, the former capitol city.  Myanmar was an extremely interesting and nice place to visit, and things are changing there so quickly, that we are looking forward to sharing our experiences there with you.  Finally, we are now in Southern Thailand and plan to beach hop for the next 3 weeks or so.

I’ve also created a couple extra pages which can be accessed from the header bar that organize our posts in different ways. Anna-Lisa and I don’t seem to like posting in chronological order, so you’ll note that one post will be from activities in October, while the next is from December.

Trip Around the World – This tab was created to help our readers figure out the chronology of our trip.  Here I’ve listed all the places we’ve stopped on our trip, along with links to posts relating to each stop.

Miles/Points Info – This tab has links to all the posts we write concerning how to collect points and miles to use on your own trips.
